JVD Proposal
If you've heard of Erwin Wurm, you'd probably know of his body of work called: one minute sculptures. These are fun, simple little pieces that are a conglomeration of image, sculpture, as well as performance to evoke a satisfying awkwardness to the viewer of these miniature pieces. Personally, I really get a kick out of them. They strike me as a different kind of staged portrait. I intend to put my own spin on awkwardness as well as the sculpture, and document them with the Viewcamera.

ReplyDeleteI think this is good in its minimalist approach. I enjoy the first photograph example more, mostly likely because there is no identification. I enjoy that kind of self portrait/portrait more, where the identity is hidden.
ReplyDeleteWhy are they called one minute sculptures? Does he just make use of the model, whatever is nearby, and a working window of one minute? If so, then you could explore why it is he came to such conclusions in choosing certain compositions. When you take the element of time out of the conceptual process, it becomes a rush job of intuitive, subconscious decisions that we rarely explore or question. It would be really interesting if you were to consider why it is he came to such conclusions, and ponder on the conclusions you come for your own.
